The strong diagonal lines diving through the cool blue and rich whites of this painting brought to mind a favorite book of my childhood:  Summer Birds. In this book a strange boy shows up and teaches a group of children to fly. Imagining swooping and diving through space was thrilling. Thus the title, When I Could Fly. It is an oil painting, framed in a simple wood floater frame.
